Purpose of the Job The Driver Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive training to drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant driving practices. This includes conducting initial and ongoing training sessions, assessing driving skills, and ensuring that drivers meet the company’s safety and operational standards. The role involves preparing training materials, providing hands-on instruction, and evaluating driver performance through practical assessments.
Key Responsibilities Operational:
⭐ Assess new and existing drivers.
⭐ Conduct training sessions (soft skills and lifting equipment) as per the schedule.
⭐ Communicate training schedules to managers and ensure adherence.
⭐ Conduct coaching sessions to improve driver competency.
⭐ Perform driver on-route assessments.
⭐ Ensure that drivers’ licenses and PrDP are valid and up to date.
⭐ Maintain accurate attendance registers.
⭐ Keep driver files updated on the learner management system.
⭐ Provide feedback to stakeholders regarding driver assessments.
⭐ Capture and update data on internal systems.
⭐ Facilitate training interventions linked to TETA scope.
⭐ Conduct fair and accurate assessments according to TETA requirements.
⭐ Use clear language and provide support when needed.
⭐ Conduct site audits and route inspections, ensuring vehicle standards.
⭐ Assist with vehicle dispatching and operational functions as needed.
⭐ Uphold professional conduct and maintain housekeeping standards.
⭐ Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures and Health and Safety standards.
Minimum Requirements:
⭐ Grade 12 (Matric).
⭐ Code EC driver’s license with valid PrDP.
⭐ Proven experience as a driving instructor.
⭐ Clear driving and criminal record.
⭐ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
⭐ Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
⭐ Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
⭐ TETA registered Assessor.
⭐ 5 years of experience as a Code EC driver.
Experience operating:
⭐ Vehicle combinations (Superlink and Articulated vehicles)
⭐ Rigid heavy vehicles
⭐ Rigid light vehicles
Certification in:
⭐ Dangerous goods
⭐ Warehouse lifting equipment
⭐ Firefighting
Skills Required
⭐ Good facilitation and presentation skills.
⭐ Ability to work under pressure.
⭐ Attention to detail.
⭐ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
⭐ Time management and problem-solving abilities.
